Normal aging vs. dementia

What kinds of memory changes are typical, and what's worth a doctor's visit.

Occasional forgetfulness — misplacing keys, forgetting a name and remembering it later, needing more time to learn new things — is often part of normal aging.

Signs worth discussing with a doctor include: forgetting recently learned information often, trouble following familiar recipes or instructions, getting lost in familiar places, repeating the same questions, or changes that disrupt daily life.
